When the pandemic hit, I -along with most people my age- discovered TikTok. Although the dances and challenges were entertaining, what really piqued my interest were the videos of chiropractic adjustments (two of my favorites are Dr. Alex Vanderschelden and Dr. Mike Vanderschelden in the OC). Having never been to a Chiropractor before, I had no idea an adjustment could be so intense. I had to experience this for myself. I did a quick Google search for chiropractors in my area and was met with an overwhelming number of results. I decided to suspend my search for when I had time to really dig in.
The next day, I was scrolling Facebook (they’re watching) and I saw an ad for Abide Chiropractic. I went to their Facebook Page and it seemed like a good fit, so I located their website and made an appointment. When I first walked through the door, I was greeted by Jacey, who got me checked in, then was immediately taken to an exam room by Cole, who asked me a few questions about my medical history, what problems I was having, etc. He left the room so I could change into a hospital gown, and when he came back he did a Neurothermal scan, left the room so I could change back into my clothes, and then took me to get x-rays. After a few quick x-rays, I was taken back to the exam room, where I met Dr. Parker for the first time. He asked me a few questions, first about me as a person, then if I had specific issues and what I was looking to get out of chiropractic care. I told him I didn’t have any specific issues, but I wanted to improve my overall health. We chatted some more and he gave me a rundown of what to expect if I were to become a patient, then told me to come back the next day for my results.
When I came back in, there was a group of maybe three potential patients, their families, and myself. Dr. Parker gave a presentation about everything you could ever want to know about chiropractic care. It was awesome! After the presentation, we were each put in an exam room where he gave us our results. The first thing he said to me when he walked in was, “Alex- you came to the right place!” As it turns out, I was on the border of scoliosis (among other issues). Dr. Parker laid out my treatment plan that he had tailored for my specific needs (every Tuesday and Thursday for the next few weeks) and went over payment options. After all of the paperwork was signed, it was time for my first adjustment. After the adjustment, I felt relief from pain I wasn’t even aware I had. For the next two hours, I had a feeling of euphoria. I couldn’t wait to go back on Thursday!
Fast-forward a year and a half later, I’ve finished my corrective care and I’ve moved on to wellness care. My favorite part is that I can go in with a specific issue, lay on the table, and Dr. Parker can identify and fix the issue without me having to say a word.

As a photographer, I find nothing more rewarding than capturing people’s memories through the lens. Senior portraits, in particular, are a great way to mark the end of a chapter in a student’s life and the beginning of a new one. Recently, I had the pleasure of taking senior portraits of Emily, a soon-to-be student […]
I’ve been photographing Zoie and her family since she was 12, so when her dad sent me a text saying she wanted me to take her senior portraits, I said, “when and where!?” We shot Zoie’s senior pictures around the Fayetteville Town Center during golden hour.
For those who don’t already know… I’m famous. That’s right, back in 1992 I was on LIVE! with Regis and Kathie Lee. Why? Because my mom is cooler than your mom. You see, I was born almost three months early and spent 60 days in Phoenix Children’s Hospital, where I wasn’t expected to live. Clearly, […]
